Creative Challenge - Final result by Clara Lindberg, Theme: Hare, group 3

Group 3 has finished their creative challenge and we are excited to present to you their final photos of the character created. The theme for their challenge was to create a whimsical, trickstery little hare in clay. A hare with magical abilities that lives in the deep dark forests of Helsinglight. We also gave them the story about the Swedish folklore legend the “Milkhare” to get inspired from how to write their storytelling. When we have presented the final work by every creative challenger/contestant in group 3 we will announce the winner of the group that will advance and compete in the finals later on. This is the final result by Clara Lindberg.

So, I rarely finish my own projects. With too much time and too many ideas you just get lost in all the bog of potential. So, the most fun part about this challenge was to, well, challenge that! Not the competition aspect itself, but to challenge yourself in using a (for me) new material, a set theme and a deadline. The themes were very good, in being both specific and open to interpretation. Seeing others give their own takes on that theme was a great source of inspiration as well!

The Skvader

Have you heard about the skvader?

Probably not.

But you have seen her; in the dug up tulips in your yard, the burrows in your flowerbed, the bite marks in your apple tree; in the faint laughter during bright summer nights, paw prints on snowy midwinter rooftops, singing the echo of cowherds’ songs across green meadows.

When the forest was young, she was a only hare - but clever and carefree as none. She laughed at the proud, vain animals around her, and stole their pretty things to “teach them about humility and perseverance”.
But, not really. Mostly she did it because it was fun.

First, from the capercaillie, she stole wings.
No longer bound by ground, none could outrun her.

Second, from the deer, she stole antlers.
With weapons sharp as swords, none wished to catch her.

Lastly, from the fox, she stole fangs.
Now, no sapling was safe; no buttercup, barley or birch beyond reach.

When the humans came, none was happier than the skvader.

Proud and vain were they and tasty their gardens, and so her merry quest began - never again would a sweet little tulip be safe, no lawn perfect, no sapling without the signature of her fangs.

It is not destruction she causes, only petty, bothersome trouble; enough to be noticed, to be annoyed at, to curse about to your neighbors. Never more, never less.

And if you listen closely, you can hear her laugh at you, through trees and grass; a shadow in the corner of your eye during dim summer nights.
